When Jamie went to submit his catch; however, the fish had swallowed the bait, so instead he cut the line and released it unharmed. IGFA rules state that your leader and fly must be attached in order to process a record fish. Jamie has also caught a 25-pound carp on fly equipment which measured 37 inches in length and sported a 24-inch girth. He was using a 6 pound tippet at the time and that particular carp tied the IGFA world record. According to Jamie, who was introduced to the sport by his father, carp are an underrated, hard fighting game fish and are often overlooked by anglers.
